Subtiles course

This course uses tiles for the top level topics and, within a topic, it then displays activities as sub-tiles (rather than the standard list).  To do this in your course, check the box under course settings > course format

Non subtiles course

This course uses tiles for the top level topics but, within a topic, activities are displayed in standard list format. I.e sub-tiles are not used for activities.
